I worked with a local shipping company in Costa Rica to create an app that allows users to track their packages in real time. From onboarding, tracking through a unique number, a user-friendly interface, and a QR code for easy package retrieval. This was designed to bring modern logistics technology to rural areas, such as Uvita, while supporting local entrepreneurs and developers.
Challenge
The main challenge was designing a system that integrated multiple storage facilities’ data while keeping the app simple and accessible to users in rural areas with limited tech infrastructure.
Solution
Through close collaboration with local entrepreneurs and developers, I led the design process, ensuring the app was intuitive and efficient. I facilitated communication between the business and development teams to ensure a seamless experience and aligned goals. The result was an app that provides real-time package tracking, easy access to package retrieval, and a robust, localized experience.
Result
The outcome of this collaboration was a set of high-fidelity mockups that mapped out the complete user journey—from onboarding and tracking to package retrieval using a QR code. These mockups served as a blueprint for development and were key in aligning all stakeholders. We successfully moved into the initial development phase, with clear handoffs and documentation in place. My role was central in bridging the gap between the business vision, technical constraints, and user needs—leading design strategy, guiding the UX direction, and ensuring all decisions reflected the realities of both the rural Costa Rican context and the logistics operation.
