Pei App
Pei is a Costa Rican fintech app developed by Multimoney that allows users to connect up to six bank accounts from different institutions and make seamless peer-to-peer transactions through the national SINPE system. As the UX Design Lead, I led the product’s design strategy and improve the overall user experience.
Challenge
In Costa Rica, many individuals have accounts across different banks, making money management inefficient and scattered. Although the national SINPE system enables interbank transfers, the user experience differs greatly across platforms. Multimoney saw an opportunity to develop a unified solution that would centralize account access and facilitate peer-to-peer payments and service transactions within the country’s financial ecosystem.
Solution
As the UX Design Lead for Pei, I crafted a user-centered experience that allows users to connect up to six bank accounts from any Costa Rican institution within one app. Seamlessly integrated with SINPE, Pei enables users to select both the sending and receiving accounts regardless of the bank. By linking contacts with their preferred accounts, sending money becomes as simple as choosing a name. The app also includes bill payments and scheduled transactions, offering a comprehensive financial tool for everyday use.
Result
Pei quickly gained traction as a go-to financial solution, reaching approximately 10,000 monthly active users. Users praised its simplicity, the ability to centralize multiple accounts, and the frictionless experience of sending money between contacts. This project showcased the power of user-centered design in simplifying financial complexity and delivering high value in the fintech space.
